SOAK IN OUR WARM MINERAL WATERS AND TAKE IN THE SOUNDS OF OLDEST SEA + ALLISON LORENZEN UNDER THE STARRY SKY OF THE HIGH DESERT.
OLDEST SEA (NJ) Formed in 2017 by songwriter Sam Marandola, Oldest Sea began as one woman’s personal exploration of the darker side of experimental folk music. Having newly expanded the project to a full band, Marandola and company now find themselves passing through ethereal corridors and liminal soundscapes with increasingly heavy steps. The enlarged sonic palette finds Oldest Sea deftly merging Marandola’s haunting solo musical passages with massive walls of grit and distortion.
ALLISON LORENZEN (CO) is a musician based in Southern Colorado by way of Denver, whose darkwave dreampop sound explores a minimalist approach to acutely felt noise-pop and aching slowcore. Her first solo album, Tender, was released by Whited Sepulchre Records in 2021 to critical praise and was named Best Album by Denver’s Westword Magazine. Lorenzen’s latest single “Words” released in 2023 as part of the dark music label The Flenser’s compilation of LOW covers, which received acclaim from Stereogum. Lorenzen’s ongoing collaborations with Midwife have garnered praise from numerous publications including NPR. Her sophomore album is near completion and will be announced this year.
